Rashmi
Dalvi, Ph.D., Research Scientist,
has over 5 years of experience as an organic chemist. Her area of
specialization is multi-step organic synthesis; in particular, green
chemistry techniques that enhance the cost efficiency of synthetic
methodology. She has developed new protocols for antimicrobial drug
synthesis. She is experienced in compound purification including column
chromatography, radial chromatography, distillation and compound
characterization. She is skilled in handling air and moisture sensitive
compounds and performing organometallic reactions. She has over 5 years of
experience in analysis and characterization of organic compounds using
techniques such as IR Spectroscopy, NMR Spectroscopy, HPLC, Gas
Chromatography, Mass Spectrometry and Polarimetry. She obtained her B.Sc in
Chemistry and Industrial Chemistry from University of Mumbai in 2000; her
Masters Degree in Chemistry from the same university includes a special
emphasis in Physical Chemistry. She obtained her Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry
from the University of Iowa in 2008, where she developed a novel methodology
of synthesizing azaspirocyclic compounds.
